Open Question: How do i connect my xbox 360 to my windows vista based PC?

I use an ethernet cord to my wireless router and everytime i try to connect it to the pc it says cannot find pc...and when i try to use windows media center ill type in the 8 digit thing and it says cannot find extender...im getting irritated with this...i have norton antivirus as my firewall and ive turned it off and tried to connect it and it still wont work....help!!!...
